Ingredients
1. Wheat flour dough kneaded
2. Dry/Fresh grated coconut(desiccated coconut will also do) 1 cup
3. Jaggery grated 3/4 th cup
4. Roasted seasame seeds (powder /tilkut will also do)
Following are the steps
1. Dry roast grated coconut, when starts turning golden, add grated jaggery to it and stir continuously.
Make sure jaggery does not stick to bottom of vessel.
2. When the jaggery melts completely, turn off the heat and add roasted seasame powder and mix well.
You can add cardamom powder if you like.
3. Now make small balls of dough and roll small puris out of it. Roll puri on oil. Do not use
wheat flour while rolling.
4.Now, put the stuffing on puri and close to form dumplings as in pic.
5. Heat water in pressure cooker and if you have idli stand, put all dumplings on idli stand or in cooker vessel. If you use cooker vessel, remember to cover the vessel with lid, so water does not go inside dumplings.
6. Remove weight from cooker lid and let it cook for 10-15 minutes on high flame. (cook just like idli).
7. Turn off heat and let it cool off for 5 minutes. when pressure is gone, remove the lid and take out
modaks.
Yummy and tasty modaks(dumplings) are ready.
